Welcome to our kite surf center in Phuket

Also called the pearl of the south, Phuket is Thailand's largest island, it's approximately the same size as Singapore. Although tourism is it's biggest source of income, because of it's large size there are still many beautiful spots to accomodate escapists of nearly all budget levels. Lying in the Andaman Sea in the south of Thailand on the west coast, the island's terrain is incredibly varied with idyllic little secluded coves, long white powdery beaches, limestone formations, mangrove forest reserves and jungles with waterfalls and tropical vegetation of all kinds. This combined with the presence of steady trade winds at certain periods of the year makes Phuket a great place to learn and practise the sport of kitesurfing/kiteboarding.

About our school
In Phuket we teach only in big areas of shallow flat water, our teachers will be standing right next to you most of the time.

In Phuket we have 2 bases, one base is on Phuket island and one base is on the nearby Koh Lon island at the Baan Mai Resort (www.baanmai.com), it takes only 15 minutes to go from one base to another with our boat.

Base 1 - Phuket Island - on the beach in Chalong bay next to Serenity terraces resort.
 
Base 2 - Koh Lon Island - Baan Mai Resort.
Travelling time between 2 bases with our boat is 10 to 15 minutes.

Having these 2 bases means that we can teach with any wind direction, tide level and at any time of the year. We are the only kitesurfing school in Phuket that is able to do this.  

We offer a pick up service from your accommodation to our teaching spot for students staying  in the Rawai, Chalong, Kata and Karon area.

In the low season (from May to October) our Koh Lon island base has 30% stronger wind than on any other place in Phuket, this is because of the special effect from the mountains.

In the low season (from May to October) our Koh Lon island base is the only kitesurfing spot where there are no big waves, the water there is flat and shallow, a perfect place for learning. All the other kitesurfing spots (and schools) are on the west coast which is open to the sea where there are regularly big waves at this time of the year.

Sun or Rain?

In Phuket there are 2 distinct seasons.
1.The High Season
From November to the end of April. This is when you get the dry North East Monsoon trade winds coming down from China bringing beautiful blue skies and good wind.

2.The Low Season
From May to the end of October.This is when the weather is wetter. Phuket is however not in a very strong south west monsoon zone, not like India for example, the rain in Phuket usually means a short rain shower followed by the return of the sun.
Due to the climate change the low seasons seem to be getting windier but are unpredictable.

The rainy months: May, September and October.
Occasional showers : June, July and August.

Non kiting activities

Phuket offers a very large variety of other activities such as : big game fishing, go carting, tennis, golf, horse riding, jet skiing, diving, snorkeling, canoeing, island hopping by long tail boat, night life, sailing, kickboxing, yoga, wakeboarding, parasailing etc etc.

Baan Mai Cottages and Restaurant
This is our base on Koh Lon island, a 15 minute boat ride away, a very nice boutique resort with very stylish bungalows using a lot of teak wood and original designs. Surrounded by exotic gardens. Bungalows are airconditioned ,have a mini bar, there is a swimming pool and a restaurant with Thai and European food.

Prices are between 3000 and 7500 baht, also depending on the time of the year.
