1. Our 3 day IKO/KTT
Beginner Course (11 hours)


Get riding and have the confidence and knowledge to go out on your own.

Prices: Private - 17600 baht.

Course Details

Day 1 / Discovery day (3 hours)

Level 1

Part 1 - Theory lesson: learning about wind direction, the different positions you can put the kite in, where the power is and isn't, the position for launching and landing a kite, safety aspects.

Part 2 - Basic kite handling with a small training kite on the beach: learning how to steer the kite.

Part 3 - Practising of kite manoevres: the manoevres discussed in the theory part are now done in practise.

Part 4 - Mistakes and corrections: students practise making mistakes and then correcting them.

Part 5 - Getting up on the board: students learn to move the training kite in a certain way so as to get the necessary power to get onto a board, (they are sitting on the beach and pretending to get onto the board)

Part 6 - Getting more power whilst riding: students learn to move the training kite in a certain way so as to get the necessary power for when they will be riding a board.

Part 7 - Controlling the kite with one hand: students learn to land and launch the training kite with one hand.

Part 8 - Covering of safety aspects: Best launching position, what position to fly your kite in when on land, wind direction situations,important weather information, do's and dont's, equipment.

Part 9 - Introduction to tube kites (the kites that we use for kitesurfing in the water): how to set one up and how it all works.

Part 10 - Into the water: Basic kiteflying with the tube kite in the water.

Day 2 - Your first rides (4 hours)

Level 2

Part 1 - Safety aspects : Basic kiteflying with the tube kite and learning to let go of the bar in order to totally depower the kite, also using the safety release system is practised.

Part 2 - Landing and launching : Landing and launching are practised whilst following the edge of the window.

Part 3 - Mistakes and corrections : Students are taught how to correct a mistake.

Part 4 - Control with one hand : Students practise controlling the kite with one hand on the bar.

Part 5 - Safety directional body drag : Learning to hold a kite steady in a certain position and letting it pull you that way-important for getting back to shore, getting away from dangerous objects or situations and getting back to your board.

Part 6 - Power body drag : Students learn to move the kite in a certain way so as to get more power, they get pulled through the water: great fun!

Part 7 - Board at your feet : Students learn to have their feet in the footstraps whilst holding the kite steady in the air and drifting along, the aim is to keep the board in position.

Part 8 - Onto the board : Students practise moving the kite in a certain way necessary for getting onto the board, it is then practised with the board at their feet and the riding can begin!

Day 3 - Perfecting your rides (4 hours)

Level 3

Part 1 - Warming up : the further perfecting of kite control, landing and launching the kite, a body drag.

Part 2 - Perfecting your riding : posture on the board.

Part 3 - Riding at the right angle to the wind so as to get some speed.

Part 4 - Controlling the amount of speed: using the board and kite in a certain way to control your speed.

Part 5 - Riding upwind.

Part 6 - Changing direction.

Part 7 -Self Rescue: a self rescue is shown and practised.

Part 8 - All you need to know about equipment : the different types and sizes of kites and boards, what is suitable for you, lots of tips on maintenance and how to make your equipment last a lot longer.

2. Our 1 Day Kitesurfing Discovery (3 hours)

This will give you a thorough idea of what kitesurfing is all about and if the sport is for you.

Intermediate

1 day intermediate (3 hours) : You can improve any skills such as -going upwind, changing direction,basic tricks.

Price : Private - 4800 baht

Semi private - 3000 baht

Our Day By Day Approach

You can do any amount of time you wish on a day by day basis until you have reached the level you are comfortable with.

Price : Private - 1600 baht an hour

Semi private - 1000 baht an hour

PLEASE NOTE : A semi private lesson means 2 students with one teacher.

About Our Lessons

- Our lessons are custom designed according to your learning curve,we do our lessons at a pace you are comfortable with.

- We have highly experienced IKO / KTT instructors, we have had our school for over 10 years.

- All our lessons take place in shallow water areas, our students can stand everywhere and have a teacher at their side, this makes learning enormously easier and safer.

- For group lessons we have a maximum of 2 students per one teacher.

- At most of our locations we offer a transportation service.


Kite Thailand Teacher Training
The KTT Level 1 Instructor course

A great way for you to get an insight into the world of a kitesurfing school with perhaps the aim being to afterwards start working at one, or just to gain some experience.

In this course you will learn : - all about how a school functions.
- about how to perform the different tasks at a school.
- about all the different equipment at a school.
- to teach a full 3 day course for complete beginners.
- about how a kitesurfing shop is run.


Our Program

Our KTT level 1 teacher training program is done over a period of 5 days.

At the beginning of the course a kitesurfing school with a kitesurfing shop is visited and you are shown how it all works,absolutely all aspects are covered and you will receive lots of tips and advice on how to run a successful kitesurfing school. Candidates receive an instructor's book which covers the whole course.
In the following days a 3 day kitesurfing course for complete kitesurfing beginners is covered and you will be with an instructor in live situations in which a real student is being taught. After having watched real teaching situations and having covered the lessons in your instructor's book, you will also be practising your teaching on one of our instructors. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive an KTT level 1 instructor's diploma.

Benefits

Prerequisites

- Be at least 16 years old (parental consent if under 18).
- Be a competent kitesurfer, you must be able to go upwind, ride in rough water, change direction and do jumps with controlled landings.
- Must be able to speak english well.

The KTT advanced instructor course

A kitesurfing instructor with an KTT level 1 instructor's license or a similar certification can apply for an KTT advanced instructor's license after 160 hours of logged teaching time.

This short one day course involves candidates teaching a lesson and being evaluated. Furthermore on this day you will learn the following: specialist teaching and teaching psychology, how to adjust your lessons to suit the environment, how to fix equipment yourself and how to read weather maps.

Prerequisites

- Be 18 years old.
- Be a competent kitesurfer,you must be able to land a jump in a controlled way, ride in rough water, stay upwind and change direction.
- Have a valid first aid certificate.
- must be able to speak English well.

We offer a transportation service from your accomodation to the spot and back again at most of our locations.
